Ricardo Lamas believes that the way to win José Aldo at UFC 169, in February 2014, it will be the rhythm applied during the fight. The featherweight challenger is confident that, if he can put pressure on the champion, he will have a good chance of winning the fight.

In some of his last fights, Aldo has been criticized for reducing the intensity of his game in the final rounds. Lamas believes that this, combined with other flaws in the Brazilian's game, could increase his chances.

“His game doesn’t have many holes. He's the champion for a reason. He's very technical when he fights, he doesn't do anything stupid, he doesn't make many mistakes. But there are errors. I will have to watch the fights with my coaches and we will find these mistakes and try to capitalize on them”, said the fighter, in an interview with the North American website MMA Mania.

“I think dictating the pace is fundamental in this fight. I've watched some of his last fights and, especially in the last few rounds, it's like he just did what was necessary to win. So, I think the longer the fight lasts, the more I have to push the pace”, continued the challenger.

Lamas' last fight was in January, when he knocked out Erik Koch. Thus, he will enter the most important fight of his career after being away from the Octagon for more than a year. However, the North American does not believe that this will cause him any problems.

“It’s not that I spent the whole time doing nothing. I've been training this entire time and, instead of training for a specific fighter, I trained to evolve as a fighter. When people see me, they will see an improved version. I believe that everything evolves”, stated Lamas.
