In recent months, tensions have been growing between the veteran Diego Sanchez, TUF 1 champion, and the Irishman Conor McGregor, European promise and one of the most acclaimed newcomers in Ultimate. The great rivalry established between the two gained another chapter this Tuesday (26). The discussion began after Sanchez posted on his Twitter that I would like to fight again soon.
“I want a fight right away! I'm sure I'll have an opponent after the fight between Nate Diz and Gray Maynard. I wanted to face Diaz, but it will probably be Gray”, wrote the American of Mexican descent. Shortly after, Sanchez challenged McGregor to a fight in March. “Would you be ready to fight in Dallas in March?” he asked. The Irishman has already responded by practically scheduling a new date and location for the duel. “My return will take place in Dublin (Ireland), next year. It's already fixed. McGregor vs Sanchez. Ireland vs Mexico. Dana White, let’s do this fight”, he replied.
Not satisfied, McGregor poked his rival, questioning his recent record. “The only reason you haven't been cut and still haven't gone to Bellator with the rest of the overachievers is your ability to defend punches with your nose. (You are) 0-4”, said the Irishman, alluding to Sanchez's last two defeats and suggesting that the North American benefited in the decisions of the fights in which he won, against Takanori Gomi and Martin Kampmann.
