Shortly after his ninth consecutive title defense, against John hendricks at UFC 167, Georges St Pierre He hinted that he was going through a difficult time and even considered ending his career, or at least temporarily moving away from the sport. Training partner of the welterweight champion, the Canadian Rory McDonald, one of the biggest promises in the under-77 kg category, does not believe that GSP will retire immediately, but stated that his friend has felt a lot of pressure from his achievements.

“I don’t think he’s gone forever. People have no idea what kind of pressure it is to fight and I have no idea what kind of pressure it is to defend the belt for six years. Before that, he was the main attraction since he was younger than I am now. There is a lot of pressure, a lot of interviews and a lot of work and GSP is a machine. This is all consuming him and Georges needs some time,” said MacDonald in an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website.
