Last Sunday (7), protesters were in front of the 17th Police District, located in the South Zone of São Paul, to protest for justice over the death of jiu-jitsu icon Leandro Lo, who was killed after an argument at a concert hall in the early hours of Saturday (6). The police, however, reportedly fired stun bombs and pepper spray at the group.

The moment of the disturbance happened after the arrival of an internal affairs car, which was promptly surrounded by Leandro's friends and fans. The group was controlled after realizing that military police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo, who is arrested on charges of having killed the athlete, was not present in the vehicle.

The Public Security Secretariat (SSP), then confirmed that the accused's testimony has not yet taken place. At the time of the confusion, agents from Garra (Armed Group for the Suppression of Robbery and Assaults) reportedly used pepper spray to contain the protesters, who still remained at the scene asking for justice, in addition to saying that the corporation was hiding Henrique.

Death of Leandro Lo

Multi-time jiu-jitsu world champion, Leandro Lo was brutally murdered at a party at Clube Sírio, in the South Zone of São Paulo, with a shot to the head. The civil police arrested Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo, after the court ordered temporary detention for a period of 30 days.

The police report reports that Henrique started the fight by going to Lo's table at a party inside Clube Sírio, where a show by the band Pixote was taking place. The soldier allegedly grabbed a bottle and the fighter, in response, immolated it on the ground. After Leandro released the PM, the attacker pulled out a gun and shot the victim once in the head.
