The world of jiu-jitsu dawned sadder this Sunday (07). Black belt Leandro Lo, multiple world champion in the sport, was brutally murdered during a party at Clube Sírio, in the Indianópolis neighborhood, in the South Zone of São Paulo. He received a shot in the head.
The shooter was identified and is on the run. He is military police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo.
The police report reports that Henrique started the fight by going to Lo's table at a party inside Clube Sírio, where a show by the band Pixote was taking place. The soldier allegedly grabbed a bottle and the fighter, in response, immolated it on the ground. After Leandro released the PM, the attacker pulled out a gun and shot the victim once in the head. Check out the transcript of the incident report below.
“Preliminarily, this is an incident involving multiple world jiu-jitsu champion Leandro Ló Pereira do Nascimento and military police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo. As the witnesses report, police officer Henrique, after a brief discussion, went to the victim Leandro's table, taking a bottle from the table, immediately the victim stood up, took the bottle from the author's hand and, in a fight, the victim knocked down and immobilized. At this point, the victim's colleagues separated the two and asked “to leave it alone”. The author, after getting up, walked around the table and, facing the victim, drew his gun and fired a shot, which hit the victim's frontal region of the head (forehead, left side). The victim is in a very serious condition at the Dr. Arthur Ribeiro de Saboya Municipal Hospital.”
