In an interview with the American website HDnet, UFC champion Randy Couture stated that the long-awaited clash against Fedor Emilianenko could take place in October next year, when Randy's contract with the American organization ends.
“Unless the UFC wants to do a co-promotion with M – 1 and make the fight with Fedor happen, I will have to wait for the end of my contract,” said Couture. “I have no intention of disrespecting the contract, which expires in July, but I cannot sign for another event until October. So, I would like to fight Emelianenko in October.”
Randy Couture's last fight in the UFC was in August this year at UFC-74, against the Brazilian Gabriel Gonzaga Napão, when he won by technical knockout in the third round
