Myriam St. Pierre, sister of the UFC welterweight champion, denied that her father is on the verge of death, as reported by the website TMZ on Monday afternoon (18).

The American outlet stated that the delicate health condition of Roland St. Pierre, aged 60, was one of the reasons that made Georges announce his intention to temporarily step away from the Octagon. However, in an interview with the Canadian newspaper La Presse, the fighter's sister stated that the situation is not as serious as reported.

“My father is doing very well. A lot of people contacted us because of this and this rumor has to stop. It makes us suffer,” she declared. “It’s our father who takes care of my children, and he wouldn’t do that if he was about to die. I don’t know where that rumor came from, but it’s wrong.”

Regarding another situation highlighted by TMZ, that Georges had impregnated a woman – and she insists on having the child despite the fighter's wishes – Myriam St. Pierre avoided commenting.
