Adesanya's friend and training partner, Volkanovski defends middleweight champion from criticism

The Australian came to the defense of his friend and said that the Nigerian's bureaucratic actions are due to the passivity of his challengers

Middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg), Israel adesanya has been suffering criticism from fans and the press for his less than encouraging performances in his last fights. Meanwhile, your friend and training partner Alexander Volkanovsky came to his defense. The owner of the featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg) said that the 'attacks' on the Nigerian are unfair and stated that the responsibility to 'enliven' the fight lies with the title challenger.

“Of course it is unfair. It will always happen. Every time you have difficult fights. The point is, people need to understand when someone only gets one shot at punching, and that's all they're looking for. Come on, man, I don't know what to do. Why does a champion have to take all the risks? Why does he have to introduce himself when he knows someone is waiting for a big shot? The person, the challenger, obviously, if things aren't going their way, and I'm not having a chance with Cannonier, I think they need to make something happen. I don’t think it’s up to the champion to make something happen,” Volkanovski told ‘MMA Fighting’.
