After a quick stint in the heavyweight division, Alexander Gustafsson justifies a return to his original division

Former light heavyweight challenger, the Swede said he did not regret the quick change, but closed the door on a new departure from his weight range

Former three-time light heavyweight (up to 93kg) challenger, Alexander Gustafson He moved to heavyweight (up to 120,2kg) in his last fight looking to 'breathe new air'. However, the Swede was defeated and decided to return to the category where he spent most of his career. In an interview before the UFC London, which takes place next Saturday (23), 'The Mauler' denied regret for the migration but stated that he is back in 'his division'.

“I felt strong like a heavyweight. The fight ended the way it did, but I felt strong. I felt fast being a heavyweight, and also I'm a big light heavyweight, so it was good. But the light heavyweight division has always been there, it's always where I've been fighting, competing. I feel great to be back. I’m excited to be back,” said Gustafsson.

The Swede ruled out that he has any regrets about the move to the heavyweight division, but said he is sure he is back in 'his division'.

"No way. A fight is a fight, and I felt the heavyweight division, and I was feeling very comfortable in the heavyweight division, but I've always been in the light heavyweight division, so that's my division. So I'm back”, concluded 'The Mauler'.

Defeated in three light heavyweight title fights, Alex tried to move up to the 120,2kg division, however, he was defeated by the Brazilian Fabricio Werdum, still in the first round, and his story in the new weight range ended prematurely. Absent from the Octagon for around two years, the Swede has a record of 18 triumphs and seven setbacks as a professional.
