After the UFC confirmed the duel between Charles of the Bronx e Islam makhachev for the vacant lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg), the businessman from Beneil Dariush, Ali Abdelaziz, was that his client was 'harmed' in the organization. The agent believes that his pupil is the one who should face the Russian, another of his agents, in the title fight and criticized the top-15 athletes in the division, for allegedly refusing to face 'Benny'.

“Beneil (Dariush) deserves a great fight. Everyone is out. He deserves a fight. I believe he could fight Islam for the lightweight title. UFC and Sean (Shelby, responsible for matchmaking the fights) are doing their job, but he can't force the guys to fight. Everyone is maintaining their ratings. I don't like the ranking. Beneil is on an eight-fight winning streak, when will he get a title shot? When he turns 40? All these guys that are losing, they shouldn't be turning down fights. We will find out (who is refusing), we always do,” Ali said.

Number six in the lightweight rankings, Beneil is enjoying a great moment in his career and has won seven consecutive victories in the organization. Dariush even had a fight scheduled against Islam makhachev, in February of that year, but suffered an ankle injury and had to withdraw from the fight. The Iranian athlete has a record of 21 triumphs, four setbacks and one draw as a professional.
