MMA fans are preparing for the return of Ultimate on Long Island. This Saturday (16), with an alternative schedule and scheduled start at 12pm (Brasília time), the organization is promoting 12 fights, with Brian ortega e Yair Rodriguez sharing the main role of the card. Brazil is represented by Amanda lemos e Herbert Burns.

Representatives of the featherweight elite (up to 65,7kg.), Ortega and Rodriguez seek to guarantee their return to the path of victory, with an eye on a chance at the belt against Alexander Volkanovsky.

Ortega vs Rodriguez

Brian, in his most recent performance, came close to making history. In the chance to fight for the belt against Alexander Volkanovsky, which took place in July 2021, at UFC 266, the North American narrowly missed out on the champion with a guillotine. He, however, saw his opponent leave his position and was defeated in a unanimous decision by the judges.

Now, Ortega wants his chance to get revenge. Second in the featherweight rankings (up to 65,7kg), 'T-City' has a record of 15 triumphs, two setbacks and one 'no result' fight in his career.

Considered one of the biggest names in the category, Yair has had to deal with numerous injuries in recent years. The 'Pantera', as he is known, spent two years without acting and, upon his return, was surpassed by Max Holloway in a five-round 'war'.

Rodriguez, 29 years old, has 13 triumphs, three setbacks and one 'no contest' within the sport. Third placed in the division, the fighter has not yet had an opportunity to face Volkanovski and could guarantee the title shot if he wins convincingly in the main fight of the night.
