Featured in the main fight of the UFC Long Island, Brian ortega will have a decisive clash this Saturday (16). Yair Rodrigez's rival over the weekend, the athlete sees the commitment as an opportunity to regain his status as a challenger for the featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg). The plan is to overcome the opponent to win a rematch against Alexander Volkanovsky.
“Personally, I would love it (a rematch with Volkanovski), because what I see is that he won the belt, defended it and the only person who worked harder was me. I place myself as the most dangerous fighter that Alexander faced in his career”, said Ortega, in an interview with 'Inside Fighting'.

This weekend, Brian makes his debut in the 2022 season. His last fight was against the Australian, in a fight in which he was beaten by the judges' decision.
Even defeated by Volkanovski in the UFC 266, Ortega believes he delivered enough to impress both fans and Ultimate members. Thus, the combatant sees himself with a real chance of sharing the octagon again with the champion, who has shone with confident performances and has four title defenses.
“I am a mortal opponent for him. Obviously, I will always train to win. (…) I think I have the tools to reach my goal, playing my cards correctly. The secret is how I will play my cards and beat this guy”, he concluded.
A featherweight standout in recent years, Brian is seeking his third fight for the organization's belt. In the first two, the athlete was unable to fulfill his dream of taking over the throne, being defeated by Max Holloway in 2018 and, almost three years later, by Volkanovski.
