William Gigante is the new heavyweight champion of the Jungle Fight. This Saturday (02), in the 60th edition of the show, held in São Paulo, the X-Gym athlete recovered from a bad start and knocked out Caião Alencar in the second round to take the title. In the other fights of the night, the highlight was the speed with which the duels took place. None of them made it to the second round.
Giant wins the belt
Despite William Gigante's victory, the one who started the best in the main fight was Caião Alencar. The Kimura / Nova União athlete closed the distance, worked with knees in the clinch until he managed to take down his rival. On top in the ground fight, he opened the front with punches from above.
When the standup fight resumed, William showed the beginning of his recovery. At the end of the first half, he put his opponent against the bars and landed two hooks on Caião. But the end of the dispute came at the end of the second round.
With both athletes already showing fatigue, Gigante took advantage of the opportunity. Already tired, Caião Alencar was placed against the bars, suffered several blows and the referee ended the fight, via technical knockout, at 4:28 of the second round.
Douglas “D'Silva” beats Soldado and remains undefeated
In the second most important fight of the event, Douglas “D'Silva” showed the reason for his unbeaten record in MMA. After a balanced start to the fight, the featherweight (66kg) showed that he has a heavy hand, managed to shake Fabiano “Soldado” and after a quick sequence of punches he put an end to the fight one minute and 40 seconds into the first round. The result marked Douglas' 21st victory in MMA.
