After the “massacre” on Sean Strickland No. UFC 276, last Saturday (2), Alex Poatán practically guaranteed the chance to fight for the middleweight belt (up to 83,9 kg) against the champion Israel adesanya, whom he already defeated twice in his kickboxing days. If Ultimate has other plans, however, the Brazilian already has other candidates interested in facing him. Between them, Khamzat Shimaev.

Third place in welterweight (up to 83,9 kg), Khamzat Shimaev, who has also worked as a middleweight in the UFC, wasted no time and used social media to challenge Alex Poatán right after the Brazilian knocked out Sean Strickland.

“I want to fight this guy @ufc @danawhite. Let’s make it happen,” Chimaev wrote on Twitter.

Asked about the challenge made by Chimaev, Alex Poatán disagreed and stated that he prefers to remain focused on the next challenge, which in this case is the imminent title fight against Israel adesanya.

PUBLICITY:

“That's what I always say: I'm focused on the next fight. When I was focused on fighting the Sean Strickland, they asked me about Adesanya and there was no point in answering. Now it's the same thing. I’ll be focused on my next fight and then we’ll see about that”, said Poatan in an interview with journalist Helen Yee.
