I couldn't even sweat. In a long-awaited fight in UFC 276, held this Saturday (2), in Las Vegas (USA), Alex Poatán put on a real show. Opponent of Sean Strickland, the Brazilian made his excellent striking count and massacred the 'bad boy' in the first round. Sharp in stand-up fighting, the triumph came with a hard knockout (click here to watch the video of the knockout).

With the result, Alex officially reaches the top 5 in the middleweight category (up to 83,9kg). In the week of the confrontation, the president of Ultimate, Dana White, even guaranteed that, in case of a positive result, the São Paulo native could become the next challenger for the belt.

Run over by Poatan, Strickland was unable to contain the Tupiniquim's aggression. With the setback, the North American suffers his first setback since his arrival in the 83,9kg category.

In an interview in the octagon, the Brazilian asked the audience to support the champion Israel adesanya, another star of UFC 276. The fighters have already faced each other on two occasions in their kickboxing days, with two victories for the Brazilian.

Now, fighters can perform a trilogy, this time, under MMA rules.

The fight

The confrontation began with Poatan taking the initiative with a sequence of kicks. The Brazilian insisted on attacking with his feet, while the North American saved his strikes. Alex continued to be more active in the fight, controlling the distance and trying to intimidate his opponent. Although he walked forward, Strickland appeared 'shy' in the clash. Halfway through the round, Poatan landed two clean crosses on the North American's face, who collapsed. Realizing the condition of the 'bad boy', the referee interrupted the fight.
