Vinicius “Spartan” Queiroz will have to wait a little longer to get closer to the Bellator heavyweight belt. The Brazilian, one of the finalists of the Grand Prix category, suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his knee and is out of the fight against Cheick Kongo, which would take place on November 8th.

“And I was really excited to fight (Cheick) Kongo, but I injured my knee and I won't be able to fight now. I’m devastated,” Vinícius told the “MMA Fighting” website. The news about Spartan's injury was first reported by the North American TV channel “FOX Sports”.

Spartan's regret must be even greater considering that the fight between him and Kongo had recently been promoted to the main event of Bellator 107. The organization's management has not yet commented on who will replace Vinícius in the fight, but they hope to If the name comes from one of the defeated GP semi-finalists, Mark Godbeer or Lavar Johnson.
