The UFC demonstrates plans to continue expanding its brand and the volume of events promoted by the organization year after year. This Wednesday (23), during his appearance on the North American TV program “FOX Sports Live”, president Dana White released the Ultimate calendar for 2014 with 35 events, two more than this year.
In addition to the already announced events in Singapore (January 4th), Jaraguá do Sul (February 8th) and UFC 169 (event that precedes the Super Bowl, on February 1st), the director also revealed the promotion of two more nights fight for the first two months of next year. According to Dana, Ultimate arrives in Chicago on January 25th and will hold a card in pay-per-view, UFC 170, on February 22nd in Las Vegas.
With 35 events in 2014 – 13 in pay-per-view, 18 in the “Fight Night” category and another four in the “on FOX” series - Ultimate continues with the trend of increasing the number of fight nights promoted annually. In 2008 and 2009 there were 20 editions. This number rose to 24 in 2010 and 27 in 2011. In the last two years, 2012 and 2013, 32 and 33 events were held, respectively. Of the 35 tournaments planned for next year, the organization estimates that up to 13 will be hosted in Brazil.
