Even without qualifying for the semi-finals in the PFL heavyweight tournament (up to 120,2kg), Matheus Buffa has something to celebrate. Last Friday (24), the Brazilian surprised by beating the current champion of the category, Bruno Cappelozza, in a three-round battle. On social media, the man from Paraná vented about the feat.

“I just came out of the fight, with the marks of war. Against everything and everyone. Nobody had faith in that shit. We went there and had a blast. Three rounds of fight with Bruno. I really like Bruno, but he's a 'job'. I have no words to thank everyone who sent me positive energy. You have no idea how tense the week was”, said the athlete, in a 'story' on Instagram.

At PFL 5 2022, Buffa entered as an underdog to face the current heavyweight champion. After losing in his debut in the organization, the man from Paraná had a convincing performance and fought a frank confrontation, overcoming his compatriot in the unanimous decision of the judges.

With the victory, Matheus added three points in the regular season. The fighter, however, did not achieve what was necessary to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

Even surpassed by his compatriot, Cappelozza remains 'alive' in the championship. With six points gained in the fight against Stuart Ausin, in April, the fighter passed the stage in fourth place.
