“I took advantage of the full weight of his body, which was moving on top of me. And his full weight made the hit happen. I just rotated it on the axis. Since he had nowhere to run, he had his back to the railing. I faked the fall and, when I saw him on the fence, it was a matter of seconds and I decided to twist my elbow. It's a position that I train and, as it was automatic, it ended up leaving. And it was good, because it connected beautifully”, said Ricardo.

Message from Conor McGregor

In addition to the plastic knockout, Carcacinha also was praised by a big name from MMA: Conor McGregor. On his 'Instagram', the Irishman tried to publish the outcome of the fight and revealed that he was excited about the Brazilian's fighting style. Now, the São Paulo native made a point of thanking him for his words.

“We speak to each other as businesspeople. My manager passes the messages. In some other fights he also sent something praising me. And, in this fight, he sent a message saying that he liked the fight. I thanked him, but I don't have any personal friendship. The man is angry”, says Carcacinha.

Comparison with Charles of the Bronx

At 26, Ricardo Carcacinha commented on the comparisons with Charles of the Bronx, as he arrived early in Ultimate with promising status in Brazilian MMA and also went through ups and downs in the past. The featherweight (up to 65,7kg.) states that he is happy with the comparison and envisions a similar success trajectory to his compatriot.

PUBLICITY:

“I've always had great respect and it's an honor to be compared to this guy (Charles of the Bronx). This isn't the first time they've told me this. Even before he became champion, people were already talking. I see his work and I always thought he was very good at jiu-jitsu, but I didn't think he was very similar. But the story really is similar. Everyone has their battles, but he reached a point where he shielded his mind, where he was able to take off. This happens in several different spheres in all athletes (…) being compared to his story is an honor and I hope I am at this moment. I am firm, strong, very sure of myself, confident in training and ready to take off too”, he concluded.

In addition to placing Ricardo Carcacinha in the fight for 'Knockout of the Year', the result returns the Brazilian to the path of victory in the UFC. The São Paulo native was coming off a defeat to Zubaira Tukhugov in his last fight. In retrospect, he now has 16 positive results and four negative results.
