Light heavyweight (up to 93kg) Askar Mozharov was involved in a major controversy even before making his Ultimate debut. Accused of defrauding his cartel to 'clean up' the adverse results suffered at the beginning of his career, the Ukrainian fighter only had one fight in the organization and was already fired by the company.

The confusion arose at the beginning of June, during the week of UFC Las Vegas 56. On the eve of the confrontation against Alonzo Menifield, the website 'Fight Finder' accused Mozharov (formerly known as Arthur Sakhadov) of starting his professional career with three consecutive defeats and, soon after, amending a sequence of seven consecutive victories against opponents who had never won a professional duel. Soon after, Askar suffered five more setbacks in seven fights. Seeking to 'clean up his career', the European athlete changed his name so that the bad results would not harm him.
Asked about the situation at the media day of ufc vegas 56, Mozharov defended himself by claiming that everything was just a mess.
“Towards the age of 18, I spent a lot of time competing in professional fights and facing everyone I could. I didn't build my record, but many of the fights took place in China. Some of the organizations do not include presentations in the cards and you need to pressure them to be counted. In the last eight years, no one has mentioned anything. I think someone in the administration wanted to show off,” Askar said.
In his only (and last) fight as a UFC athlete, Mozharov was knocked out in the first round by the American Alonzo Menifield. Less than a week after his debut, the Ukrainian was fired by Ultimate.
