With three consecutive victories, the Brazilian tries to stamp his 'title passport' against the Georgian on August 20

Another great fight for José Aldo in the rooster division (up to 62,1kg.). With an eye on a new opportunity for the bantamweight belt, the Brazilian accepted the mission to measure forces against Merab Dvalishvili, in a duel scheduled to take place in UFC 278 on August 20th, in Salt Lake City (USA). The information was released by journalist Ariel Helwani.

Despite having reached a verbal agreement with aljamain sterling, through social media, to be the next challenger for the bantamweight belt, José Aldo has one more fight before facing the champion – who must be booked against TJ Dillashaw. The Brazilian now has a streak of three consecutive victories and occupies third place in the category ranking. In his career, there are 31 positive results and seven negative results.

Dvalishvili, on the other hand, is also enjoying a great moment in Ultimate and has seven victories in a row, against big names like Marlon moraes, cody stmann e John Dodson. Professional since 2014, the Georgian has a record of 14 triumphs and four setbacks, in addition to being in sixth place in the division led by Sterling.

Besides José Aldo x Merab Dvalishvili: UFC 278 features a rematch between Kamaru Usman e Leon edwards for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg) in the main fight of the night. The card will also have an attempt to recover Paulo borrachinha, who faces the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg.) Luke Rockhold in the second most important duel of the event.
