Away from MMA since the tough defeat to Amanda nunes in 2016, the legendary Ronda Rousey surprised by revealing the only fight that would make her return to the sport. In an interview with 'The Kurt Angle Show', the former Strikeforce and UFC champion admitted that she would return to action against a rival who she considers a reference in the sport.
“There is only one person who would make me come back. I've said this a few times, it's not new. The fighter is Gina Carano”, said the legend.
With an unusual name pointed out, Ronda explained. The idea would not come from a tone of provocation, or settling of accounts, but, rather, of admiration.
“It's a situation of respect, nothing like: 'f*ck her'. I love her. Thank you so much, Gina, for everything you did,” concluded Rousey.
After a successful career in mixed martial arts, which earned the athlete bantamweight reigns for Strikeforce and UFC, Ronda decided to venture into pro wrestling. Today, the American is one of the stars of WWE.
One of those responsible for spreading women's MMA, Carano had a relatively short career in the sport. With eight appearances in the sport, the North American accumulated seven triumphs and one setback. The combatant's career came to an end after the harsh defeat she suffered against Chris Cyborg, competing for the inaugural Strikeforce featherweight belt, in 2009.
After her participation in mixed martial arts, Gina began to dedicate herself to cinema. Over the last 10 years, the former fighter has participated in more than 10 films, most notably her role in 2016's 'Deadpool' as the villain Angel Dust.
Today, Ronda is 35 years old. Carano, on the other hand, is 40.
