Outside of the plans for an immediate title fight, Marina Rodriguez suggests a fight against Rose Namajunas

Out of the plans for an immediate title fight in the strawweight division (up to 52,1kg.) of Ultimate, Marina Rodriguez indicated who he would like to face in his next commitment. With the success of Weili Zhang No. UFC 275, which may have accredited the Chinese as a title challenger, the Gaucho admitted her desire to test herself against the former group champion, Rose namajunas. A possible date was also suggested by the Brazilian.

“I don’t see many options within the category. Maybe Rose (Namajunas), I don't know. I just want a name that gives me the opportunity to be the next challenger for the belt”, said Rodriguez, in an interview with 'MMA fighting'.

Without fighting since March 2022, when he overcame the promising XiaonanYan, Marina has in mind when she intends to return to the Octagon. The team from Rio Grande do Sul is looking for a performance at the end of the season.

“October, for me, would be perfect”, he guaranteed.

In a great moment in Ultimate, Rodriguez has four consecutive victories. The Brazilian's last stumble happened in July 2020, when she was surpassed by the new group champion, Carla esparza. Today, Rio Grande do Sul occupies third place in the division.

Former owner of the category title, Rose namajunas was recently dethroned by Esparza herself. The North American is the current number one in the division, behind only the champion.
