Visibly dissatisfied with his own performance against Joey Beltran at UFC Fight Night 29, Fábio Maldonado pointed to an injury as the reason for his lower-than-expected performance. During the press conference after the event in Barueri (SP), this Wednesday (09), Maldonado revealed that he had injured his knee during training.

“I managed to do the training camp in São Paulo, but I fought injured. It's been three weeks since I've trained jiu-jitsu or wrestling. I box and walk, and it was only 10 days ago that I started running again. I have a knee injury. So it was kind of difficult. It sounds like an excuse, but that was the truth that happened in my life”, said the fighter.
