Alexander Gustafson fought a great fight against Jon Jones, for the light heavyweight belt, at UFC 165. But after five rounds, he ended up defeated in a tight decision by the judges. After that, the Swede was waiting for the chance for a rematch, however, the Brazilian Glover Teixeira was announced as the next challenger for the title.
Despite the disappointment of the new postponed opportunity, Gustafsson guarantees that it is not finished and says that he will still own the coveted title.
“I'm not finished. I'm not happy with how it all turned out and I want that belt. That's my big goal and I'm going to have my rematch and I'm going to take that belt and he (Jones) knows that too”, said Alexander, in an interview with the 'MMA Hour' program.
As Gustafsson will watch the next title defense outside the Octagon, he gave his opinion on the duel. Despite praising the Brazilian's fighting style, the Swede is betting on the current champion's victory.
“It’s going to be a great fight. Nobody can rule out Glover because he is a strong guy and hits super hard, but I think Jones has a lot of tools for Glover and I think he will defeat him”, he concluded.
