A title fight is the dream of every athlete who works in Ultimate, but it becomes a closer reality for those who are well ranked in their divisions. This is the case with Brazilians Demian Maia, currently fourth in the welterweight category. This Monday (07), after open training in Barueri (SP), Demian stated that he hopes for a victory against Jake Shields at UFC Fight Night 29 will make him the next title challenger.

“Yes, I believe (that a win over Shields will make me the next challenger),” said Maia, who also credited her impressive undefeated streak since moving down from middleweight to the changes she made to her training. “My way of training, my camp everything has changed. I think this is the main reason (for the good phase): the way of training, and also the professionalism”, she concluded.
