Kickboxing legend, Alex Poatán He has a vast arsenal of strikes and has the necessary quality to knock out any fighter in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg). The focus of the duel against Sean Strickland, however, is to seek war and show that it can be dominant. The fight takes place in UFC 276 on the 2nd of July.

“Honestly, I’m not thinking about a knockout. If it's a fight on points, with a clear victory, I prefer it. I want to feel (the fight), you know? Just like the fight (against Bruno Blindado) – three rounds of a war, with him trying to take me down and me defending. If I get knocked down, I'll get up and maybe fall too,” said Poatan in an interview with the podcast 'French Exchange'.

With just two fights in Ultimate, Alex is not yet in the middleweight rankings (up to 83,9kg), but he believes he can have a chance at the title against his rival Israel adesanya – who defends the belt in the same event against Jared Canonnier. However, the Brazilian is cautious about the possibility and says there is the possibility of having other fights.

“I don’t know what will happen (after the UFC 276). People have been asking for the title fight against Adesanya since I signed (with Ultimate). I went in saying I wanted to fight for the belt against whoever had the title, and it's there. I don't know what it's going to be like, but I'll be ready for one, two, three, however many fights the organization wants me to do. But we can see that it is a quick process. I’m ready now,” he finished.

With two fights and two victories in the UFC Octagon, Alex Poatán is not yet in the top 15 of the middleweight division, but enjoys prestige within the organization and is seen as a strong candidate to challenge Israel adesanya for the title in the near future. This is due to the Brazilian's history in kickboxing, a sport in which he made history as GLORY champion, including defeating the Nigerian, current owner of the Ultimate middleweight belt, on two occasions.
