In an interview with 'The Fighter vs. The Writer’, Dariush stated that, given the moment of the two athletes, McGregor’s request does not make sense for Charles. He also reports that he was close to measuring forces against the Brazilian in October 2020 and asks for a chance.

“He's talking about wanting to fight Conor, as other fighters never gave him a chance when he was outside the top five and all that. But we fight in October 2020. I have a fight contract, I can post a photo of it. I was supposed to fight Charles, and he backed out of the fight, and a few months later, instead of fighting me, he fought Tony Ferguson. He said something about family issues and I'm not going to say, 'Oh, he didn't fight me, I can't believe it'. Family comes first, I understand that. But the same thing people did to him, he's doing to me,” Dariush said.

Speculated in a possible fight against Islam makhachev, Beneil also tried to compare his style and that of the Russian in a confrontation against Do Bronx. For him, both fighters are capable of dominating the Brazilian on the ground.

“I think so (we are the toughest matchups for Charles) because if you look at the past, Kevin Lee He wasn't that good in the fight, but he did a good job on the ground, he was on top and could have won a round just by holding Charles on top. No disrespect to Kevin, but he doesn't have the jiu-jitsu or submission power like Islam and I do. We are a nightmare for Charles,” he concluded.

Beneil Dariush seeks his first opportunity for the belt and is experiencing the best moment in the division. Sixth in the rankings, Dariush is on a streak of seven consecutive victories and has 21 positive results, four negative results and one draw in his career. He is now recovering from a fibula injury and is still working to return to the organization.
