The Hawaiian B.J. Penn took a break from retirement and will return to the octagon to face Frankie Edgar as coach of the 19th season of TUF. The fighter, who is a former champion in the lightweight (up to 70 kg) and welterweight (up to 77 kg) categories, will make his debut in the featherweight division (up to 66 kg) at the end of the reality show. However, BJ revealed that he would like to face Edgar in the lightweight division.

Through his official website, Penn said he was willing to avenge the setback that marked his loss of the belt in the category. “You know, I really wanted this fight to be at lightweight. It has nothing to do with weight, but I feel like Frankie hasn't lost (in the category) yet. He's at the top, and people often say I'm the best at lightweight. Frankie beat me twice, he never really lost,” said BJ, who explained his statement.

“Pettis is the new champion, we have all these new guys. Well, if Frankie and I are the old guys, maybe whoever comes out of that Octagon with the win will be one of the best lightweights in history. We'll figure it out. It could be a good thing for me, fighting at 66kg could be the best thing that ever happened to BJ Penn. Let’s find out”, added the Hawaiian.

the duel between Frankie Edgar e B.J. Penn There is no official date yet, but it will be the third clash between them. In the first duel, in April 2010, at UFC 112, Edgar beat Penn in a controversial decision by the judges and took the BJ belt. In the rematch, which took place at UFC 118, in August of the same year, Frankie dominated the fight and beat the veteran fighter again in the decision.
