After the controversy surrounding the weigh-in of Paulo Borrachinha's last fight, the Brazilian's next rival, Luke Rockhold, revealed that he will not tolerate another mistake from the Brazilian. In an interview with 'ESPN', the former middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg) said that he will give a tolerance of around 2kg to the Brazilian athlete, however, if he does not reach the division's limit, the duel will not take place. The two athletes will face each other in the UFC 277, scheduled for July 30th.

“I like Paulo (Borrachinha), I like this fight, I like this weight. I want to fight him at middleweight. I'll give you a tolerance of five pounds (about 2,2 kg). If he can't do 86kg, f*** him and let's move on. It's better to have a reserve fighter or something ready, because that's what I told the UFC. I'm not here to play. I want to go there and I want to prove that I'm ready to do this thing in the middleweight division. It’s not heavyweight or light heavyweight,” said Rockhold.

In the last fight of Paulo borrachinha, in October 2021, the Brazilian faced the Italian Marvin vettori. The controversy occurred even before the official weigh-in. Claiming a biceps injury, the Tupiniquim athlete stated that he would not be able to make the weight in the middleweight division (up to 83,9kg) and asked for the clash to take place between the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg). The sudden change caused a lot of confusion behind the scenes, but the duel took place normally.

Without stepping into the Octagon since July 2019, Luke does not have an encouraging recent look back on his career. In his last four fights, the former champion suffered three defeats. In his sports record, the North American has a record of 16 triumphs and five setbacks
