It is possible to say that MMA fans went “from hell to heaven” between the co-main fight and the main fight of the UFC 274, last Saturday (7). After Carla esparza dethrone Rose namajunas in an extremely monotonous fight in the strawweight division (up to 52,1 kg), Charles of the Bronx hit Justin gaethje in a quick and unforgettable duel in the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg).

The statistics of the fights make the huge difference between them very clear. According to data collected by Fight Analytics, a partner of SUPER FIGHTS, Charles of the Bronx did, in less than four minutes, more than Carla esparza, new strawweight champion, in five complete rounds.
The most impressive difference was in the significant hits. Charles of the Bronx connected, in just three minutes and 22 seconds, more than twice as many blows as Carla esparza, new strawweight champion, in five complete rounds. The Brazilian ended the fight with 28 significant strikes connected, while Esparza managed to connect only 13 and Rose namajunas 21. Even Justin gaethje, defeated in the main fight, had more significant blows than the new strawweight champion, with 16.
Translating the raw numbers into averages, the picture looks even worse for those responsible for the co-main fight. Rose namajunas connected less than one (0,84) significant strike per minute, while Esparza needed an incredible two minutes for each connected strike. In the main fight, Justin gaethje connected 4,76 significant blows per minute, while Charles ended the fight with 8,33 significant blows connected.
