Responsible for the “knockout of the year” against Tony Ferguson in the third fight on the main card of UFC 274, Michael chandler had time to watch the main fight of the event, between Charles of the Bronx e Justin gaethje, precisely those responsible for his latest defeats in the Octagon.
In a press conference after the event, Michael chandler analyzed the duel between Charles and Gaethje and praised the Brazilian.
“Man, we should all be ashamed of ourselves for ever doubting Charles Oliveira. Gaethje hurt him, Oliveira hurt Gaethje and when you go to the ground with Charles Oliveira, he will submit you, except for me. I managed to escape,” said the former Bellator champion.
Defeated by Charles of the Bronx in a fight for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg), Michael chandler highlighted the Brazilian's evolution in recent years, but assured that he has “unfinished business” with the former champion.
“There is something satisfying about watching Charles Oliveira. He was unreliable, he had an irregular record, you couldn't count on him having a sequence of good performances. He was a boy and he became the man that is Charles Oliveira, the champion that is Charles Oliveira. I lost to him, but I think we have unfinished business. I entered this sport to be a champion”, he concluded.
