President of Ultimate, Dana White classified the unprecedented situation experienced by Charles of the Bronx at the official weigh-in for the UFC 274, held last Friday (6), which resulted in the São Paulo native losing his title. After this Saturday's spectacle (7), which confirmed the Brazilian as the winner of the main fight against Justin gaethje, but, according to the rule, he did not return the lost title to the athlete, the organization's representative vented about what had happened. On that occasion, the Tupiniquim failed to cut weight, but under suspicion of an error in equipment calibration.

“It was a nightmare. We were talking about this behind the scenes. We have this type of problem when people use the scales to check their weight the night before the official weigh-in. Europeans and guys from other parts of the world work with kilos (while in the United States pounds are used). So, they started messing with the calibration to check in kilos”, said White, in a press conference after the UFC 274.
In order to prevent the possible mistake from happening again, Dana has a drastic solution. The president guarantees that the organization will take action for upcoming events.
“There are a lot of variables to these scales that we deal with every week. We need to have a security guard to watch the scales now. It’s something we will need to do”, he assured.
Dethroned after failing to make the weight cut by around 200g, Charles did not have the belt buckled by White after his victory over Gaethje. The UFC president, however, guaranteed that the athlete, even without the object, is, 'technically', the champion.
