Before facing and losing to Chris Weidman, at UFC 162, in July, Anderson Silva was always asked about a possible superfight against Georges St Pierre, welterweight champion, and Jon Jones, owner of the light heavyweight belt. After the Brazilian's surprising setback, the matter cooled off, but for a short time. Although the rematch against Weidman is scheduled, Spider is once again asked about the challenge against the champions, if he regains the middleweight division title.

Without leaving a climate of suspense in the air, as in other statements on the subject, Anderson guarantees that a super fight between champions would be good for business, as it would make a lot of money for the athletes and the UFC, but he believes that the sport would lose out if the fights were actually realized.

“People talk a lot about superfights, but what are the chances of new fighters appearing and fighting for the belts? I'm ready to face Jon Jones or Georges St-Pierre, but in my gym there are names like Rogério Minotouro ou Glover Teixeira. Georges St-Pierre is in a different weight category. I already have a lot of problems in my weight category. A superfight is good for business, but it’s terrible for the fighters”, said Anderson, in an interview with the English website “Give Me Sport”.

“Let’s say I face Georges St-Pierre. He goes up a little in weight and I go down a little. Let's say I win. Then I face Jon Jones. Let's say I win. What can be greater after this? Anything! In my opinion, superfights are completely idiocy”, added the Brazilian
