After surgery, Kevin Souza plans future in the UFC

Fighter fractured his hand during his fight against Felipe Sertanejo at UFC Fight Night 28 in Belo Horizonte

KevinKevin Souza's debut in the UFC was remarkable for the fighter. After fighting a great fight and winning against his compatriot Felipe Sertanejo at UFC Fight Night 28, in Belo Horizonte, the Team Tavares athlete still had to deal with drama during the fight. He fractured his right hand in two places and remained strong in the dispute. Overcoming the pain, he stated that he never thought about giving up due to his broken bones with the first punch thrown.

“Obviously the performance would be better if these fractures had not occurred. I waited a long time for this moment, I wanted to represent well all those who believed in me and supported me. My preparation for the UFC was at a high level”, said the fighter who should only compete again in February 2014.

Last Friday (13), Levin underwent surgery to correct the fracture. Two plates were placed, four pins in one bone and five in another. The minimum recovery time stipulated by doctor Luís Fernando Zukkanovich Funchal is ten weeks. Next week, the professional will return for the first post-surgical evaluation, perform the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), which is an injection to accelerate bone consolidation and will have a new estimate for recovery.

“The surgery was a success, I'm already home. I still haven't realized how big this victory was in my career. I was checking the UFC page on Facebook, which has more than ten million likes, there were some photos of me with several comments from all over the world. In addition to making me known, it promotes the brand of those who support me in following this dream”, he added.
