North American Matt Riddle, who was scheduled to face Brazilian Sergio Junior, will not even make his Bellator debut. Riddle, who had recently been fired from the UFC, announced his retirement, at just 27 years old, through his official Facebook profile.

“I'm retiring from MMA today. I hurt my ribs and I can't fight on September 20th. Bellator told me they can't find me a fight until the next tournament. I can't afford not to fight for a long time and I need a job. Sorry if I let anyone down, but that’s not paying the bills,” wrote the fighter.

Matt Riddle has a record of seven wins, three losses and two unsuccessful fights. Riddle ends his career with a rare feat: having fought all of his fights as a professional for the UFC. In his last four fights, “Deep Waters”, as he is known, won two and had two other results reversed to “no contest” after being caught in an anti-doping test for using marijuana.
