Francis Ngannou says that renewing with the UFC without the opportunity to duel Fury 'is not an option'

The Cameroonian, however, reiterated his desire to continue in the organization defending the heavyweight belt

the appearance of Francis Ngannou in the ring after the victory of Tyson Fury about Dillian Whyte, last Saturday (23), brought back to the surface the current heavyweight champion's (up to 120,2 kg) contractual imbroglio with the UFC. While the Cameroonian insists that the new contract has a clause that allows him to face the now retired, multi-time boxing world champion, Ultimate seeks to make him give up on the idea.

During a recent participation in “MMA Hour”, a podcast from the North American website “MMAFighting”, Francis Ngannou assured that there is no possibility of renewing with the UFC without having the opportunity to face Tyson Fury in boxing.

“The struggle with Tyson Fury It has to be part of the discussion. It's not an option. It has to be part of the discussion, because if it's not part of the discussion now, it never will be. If I sign another contract now on the same business model, I'm screwed. It will never happen. So we have to find a way to implement this in the contract”, said the Cameroonian.

Francis Ngannou, however, made it clear that, as much as he insists on facing Tyson Fury in the boxing ring, his goal is to continue having great fights in the UFC and defending the heavyweight belt.

“I think the UFC is a great organization and I want to keep fighting. The fight against Tyson Fury It won't be my last. I want to keep fighting afterwards. I still have a lot of fights to do. He has Jon Jones, there's the trilogy with Stipe (Miocic), there are other big fights I can have in the UFC, so I'd really like that to happen. I would like us to reach a common point”, said the champion.

Francis Ngannou won the heavyweight belt in a rematch against Stipe Miocic, in March 2021. The Cameroonian defended his title for the first time in January this year, against the then interim champion Cyryl Gane.
