VIDEO: In the rhythm of Carnival, remember fighters who 'sambad' before the knockout

Contrary to what happens on the avenues during the popular festival, samba inside the cage is never a good sign.

Last weekend was a festive weekend in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where, out of season, samba schools entered the avenue and held their traditional parades after a year without Carnival due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Inspired by the popular festival, the SUPER FIGHTS recalls some cases of fighters who “sambad” in the Octagon after being knocked out.

Nicholas Musoke danced before falling

In 2017, a duel between a Serb and a Swede resulted in samba. With a powerful right blow, Bojan Velickovic made Nicholas Musoke “lose” his legs and dance across the octagon.

Samba with round kick

In his last fight in the Octagon, the former lightweight champion (under 70,3 kg) Anthony Pettis put alex morono to samba after a beautiful round kick. The blow, however, was not enough to knock out the opponent and “Showtime’s” victory came only by decision.

Edson Barboza made his victim

In a list like this, Brazilians could not be missing. At the UFC 262, Edson Barboza gave a samba lesson to Shane burgos, who took a while to learn, but after a certain delay, he joined the dance.

Bruno Blindado also made his rival dance samba

Another Brazilian who put his opponent to samba was Bruno Blindado. With a beautiful cross, the Brazilian made Jordan wright tap dancing around the octagon in UFC 269.

José Aldo taught and introduced samba to Faber

It wasn't a knockout, but José Aldo taught Californian Uriah Faber the art of samba. With several leg kicks from the Brazilian, the 'California Kid' spun around like a Mestre Sala or Porta-Bandeira.

Spider also sang

Unfortunately, there were also Brazilians entering the dance in style. At the unforgettable UFC 162, Chris Weidman put Anderson Silva to samba in one of the biggest upsets in MMA history.
