Fulminant. This was the victory of Lucas “Mineiro” Martins over Ramiro Hernandez, in the penultimate fight of the UFC Fight Night 28 preliminary card. Acting at home and counting on the massive support of the fans, Lucas went all out on his opponent, almost getting the win. knockout in the first minutes and won by submission, with a rear naked choke at 1m10s of the first round. The result sent the public into a frenzy, in the first great moment of the event.
In the fight that closed the preliminary card, two Brazilian athletes once again found themselves face to face: Kevin Souza and Felipe “Sertanejo” Arantes. The athletes had a first round with a lot of study and little action, with an advantage on the feet for Kevin and on the ground for Felipe. The tone continued in the following rounds, with Souza betting on his boxing and Felipe trying to use grappling, both without effective success. At the end of the confrontation, Kevin Souza was declared the winner by split decision from the judges.
The event in the capital of Minas Gerais started off lukewarm, with two fights – Sean Spencer vs Yuri Villefort and Ivan Batman vs Keith Wisniewski – which did not excite the public present at Ginásio do Mineirinho. However, this scenario changed a little in the third fight on the card, between Brazilians Elias Silvério and João Zeferino. The compatriots didn't put on a lively fight, but, with their fans present in good numbers, they brought the audience to their feet for the first time on the night.
