After insisting on a rematch against Marvin vettori in recent months, Paulo borrachinha got closer to having his dream analyzed by Ultimate. This Wednesday (20), on his social networks, the Italian indicated that Robert whittaker, his opponent in UFC 275, would have left the confrontation, and would then be looking for a rival for June 11th. Sensing the opportunity, the Minas Gerais candidate applied to replace the former champion.

A Brazilian standout in the under-83,9kg category, Paulo seeks to repeat a clash held in October 2021. On that occasion, the Minas Gerais native faced off against the Italian in a fight promoted in the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg).
The fight between Borrachinha and Vettori was marked by the aggressiveness of the stars. After 25 minutes of competition, Marvin was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges.
With the possible departure of Robert whittaker do UFC 275, Paulo takes a closer look at the opportunity to test himself once again against his last tormentor. In addition to settling scores, the Brazilian seeks to end a sequence of two stumbles.
As much as the Minas Gerais candidate applied to replace the former champion on June 11, Marvin's plans seem to be different. In the publication in which he indicated the 'cut' of his initial opponent, the Italian suggested a confrontation against Khamzat Shimaev.
