After almost a year without official fights, former participant of TUF Brasil 2, the UFC's reality show, Tiago Alves already has a date set to return to MMA. On November 2nd, he faces Delson Pé de Chumbo, also a participant in the first edition of TUF. The fight takes place at MaxSport, in São Paulo. His last fight was in October 2012 when he defeated Ailton Alves by technical knockout.
“I'm very happy with this return to fighting and facing a great fighter like Lead Foot. After my participation in TUF Brasil 2 I feel much more mature and experienced. Today I know that I am a real MMA fighter”, said Tiago.
After his participation in the UFC reality show, Tiago made big changes in his preparation and has been training with K-1 legend Francisco Filho at Mavors MMA Gym, his team.
“I realized the mistakes I made on TUF and now I'm paying a lot of attention to my stand-up part. I've been sharpening my striking with Francisco Filho and my progress has been clear. On the ground, I'm maintaining the work that was already working with master Marco Barbosinha”, said the fighter.
Despite not being used in the UFC at the moment, he still hopes to be in the biggest MMA event in the world soon. The athlete believes he left a door open through his participation in TUF Brasil.
“I'm waiting for my turn. I and the other athletes who were not used at that time by the organization were released to participate in other events. But it was a path that was open, I know my turn will come. The UFC is the mecca of mixed martial arts and it’s where I want to be,” he concluded.
