“I feel for my coaches. They worked hard with me. I made a lot of mistakes. I need to watch the fight, like I always do. I will work harder, with more energy. I need to be good at everything. Black belt, in striking, in grapple, ground and pound, wrestling. I will adjust everything now”, said Chimaev, in an emotional speech to the cameras.

Even with the visible commotion, Khamzat had reason to celebrate. After surpassing the Brazilian on points, the athlete officially reached the top 5 of the welterweights (up to 77kg), now occupying third place.

“On the one hand, I'm happy. On the other, irritated. I’m nervous because I couldn’t win in the fast lane,” he concluded.

A big bet for the future of Ultimate, Khamzat starred, together with Gilbert, in one of the most exciting fights of the 2022 season. After the spectacle, UFC president, Dana White, even admitted that the confrontation between the Swede and the Brazilian was a one of the best I had ever seen.
