In 2007, Matt Serra won the fourteenth season of the reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter'. The prize was not something very pleasant: facing the packed welterweight champion (under 77,1kg) Georges St-Pierre. In the main fight of UFC 69, under the command of Ray Longo, the North American shocked the world by knocking out the Canadian and imposing, to this day, the last defeat of his career.

Ray Longo was the main player in the two biggest upsets in the history of mixed martial arts. After his pupil Matt Serra beat Georges St-Pierre in 2007, the coach waited just over 15 years to achieve a new historic feat. At UFC 162, which took place in July 2013, his biggest prospect so far, Chris Weidman did not fall into the mental game of Anderson Silva, knocked out Spider in the first round and won the middleweight belt (under 83,9kg) that the Brazilian had held since 2006.

After all the controversy surrounding the first clash between Sterling and Yan, the American was seen as just an extra for the co-main fight of the UFC 273. However, inside the octagon, the 'Funk Master' delivered a better performance than in the previous duel, beat the Russian in a tight split decision and successfully unified the bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg). Once again, Ray Longo showed that no duel can be won before the two athletes step into the Octagon.
