Cejudo questions Chimaev's humility and sees 'big problems' for the Swede in a possible fight against Usman

Khamzat Shimaev went through the biggest challenge of his career with a points victory over Gilbert Durinho No. UFC 273, event held last Saturday, in Jacksonville (USA). With this, the Swede maintained his unbeaten record in 11 fights and, as a bonus, got closer to a possible confrontation against Kamaru Usman for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.).

In participation in the program 'The Schmo', the former flyweight (up to 56,7kg.) and bantamweight (up to 61,2kg.) champion, Henry Cejudo, questioned Chimaev's humility and believes that the Swede would have major problems in the technical fit for the duel against Usman. “It was a correct result, but if Chimaev fights the 'Nigerian Nightmare' (Kamaru Usman) so he will be in trouble. We see that he is human and has flaws. Chimaev just needs to be more humble and that's probably our fault because we kind of put him on a pedestal when he hasn't really proven anything. When he fought against one of the main competitors, many people gave that fight to Gilbert Burns (Durinho). He could have lost”, analyzed Cejudo.

Khamzat has already spoken about his dream of making history by becoming the first triple Ultimate champion. But, for Cejudo, the easiest mission for the Swede to wear a belt would be at middleweight (up to 83,9kg), where he would not struggle to make weight, in addition to having an advantage and physical imposition.

“I almost feel like he’s too big for welterweight. He is very big. You can make weight, but you can barely do it and it really affects you. I think Chimaev at middleweight is a more dangerous Chimaev than at welterweight”, he concluded.

The next step of Khamzat Shimaev be Colby covington, as stated by Dana White in statements before the event. The Swede, in fact, could be one victory away from competing for the belt, which belongs precisely to Kamaru Usman.
