UFC Fight Night 27 began with great controversy. Considering that the knee strikes applied by Abel Trujillo to Roger Bowlling were illegal, referee Rob Hinds interrupted the fight and, given Bowling's inability to continue fighting, declared the fight a no result. Dana White, who had already expressed disagreement with the result, confirmed, in the press conference after the event, that he paid the victory bonus to Trujillo.

“Abel Trujillo won that fight. The blows were legal. The second one hit me on the shoulder, in my opinion. I will pay him the victory bonus”, said the manager. Previously, shortly after the end of the confrontation, White had already spoken out through his official profile on Twitter, diverging from the fight without result. “Those two knees were cool!!! Trujillo should have won,” he wrote.
