Amid the exchange of barbs, Chimaev claims to be 'more Brazilian' than Durinho: 'I'm from Cantagalo'

Amidst several provocations that occurred at the press conference for the UFC 273, one caught my attention. Sharp in attacks against Gilbert Durinho, Khamzat Shimaev surprised by questioning the Brazilian's nationality. To further spice up the rivalry, the Swede 'took over' the place of origin of Alan Fifou, one of his main coaches.

“I'm going to kill this guy. I have a bomb in my hands. I don't care what I'm going to do. I will enter the Octagon and crush it. He (Durinho) isn’t even from Brazil. I'm more Brazilian than him. I'm from Cantagalo (Rio de Janeiro). Gilbert only speaks English, he doesn’t even know how to speak Portuguese”, said Chimaev, stirring up the audience present at the press conference.

PUBLICITY:

Aware of Khamzat's statement, Durinho chose to play with the situation. In response, the Niteroi native mocked the quality of the English spoken by this weekend's opponent.

No UFC 273, Chimaev will step into the octagon for the biggest commitment of his MMA career. Rocked by four massacres in a row, the Swede seeks to extend his good momentum and remain undefeated in his career in the sport.

PUBLICITY:

Former challenger for the welterweight belt (under 77kg), Gilbert accepted the challenge of facing 'Dana White's pupil'. If he breaks his opponent's hype, the Brazilian could regain his status as challenger for the division title.

Fatal change? Makhachev ignores warning and could end tragically at welterweight!
