Derek Brunson refuses Borrachinha's challenge and provokes Brazilian: 'Paulo Macarrão'

Fourth placed in the light heavyweight rankings refused to fight and stated that the Brazilian 'is a heavyweight'

Looking for an opponent to return to the octagon, Paulo borrachinha pointed Derek Brunson as his latest target, but he will probably have to find another candidate. Last Wednesday night (30), the North American took to social media to refuse the Brazilian's challenge and took the opportunity to provoke.

In a publication made on his official “Twitter” profile, Derek Brunson stated that he does not intend to fight soon, accused Borrachinha of having ignored challenges in the past and stated that he believes the Brazilian should fight at heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg).

“Focus on your weight division. You are a heavyweight. I tried to face you several times. You disappeared until I had a fight scheduled. I'm not fighting anytime soon. I'm working on my skills. I expect your second fight in the heavyweight division, Paulo Macarrão”, teased Brunson.

Paulo borrachinha e Derek Brunson share fourth place in the middleweight rankings (up to 83,9 kg) alongside Sean Strickland. Both fighters are coming off defeats in the Octagon.

Undefeated in his first ten professional fights, five of them in the UFC Octagon, Paulo borrachinha suffered the first defeat of his career precisely in the middleweight title fight, against Israel adesanya. Afterwards, the Brazilian was surpassed by Marvin vettori, in October 2021.

Also defeated by Israel adesanya in a title fight, Derek Brunson scored five victories in a row, but ended up being knocked out by Jared Cannonier in February this year.
