Controversial figure due to his provocative style in Ultimate, Sean Strickland surprised by breaking character to praise Alex Poatán, his next opponent, in UFC 277 on July 30th. In an interview with the channel 'Helen Yee Sports', the North American avoided the trash talk and states that the kickboxing legend is frightening due to his knockout power.

“The guy is a savage and he already knocked out Izzy (Israel adesanya). I like it and I'll tell you why. With Alex (Poatan), it's kind of a scary thing. This excites me a lot. You see him and you're like, 'S***, you're a big, scary kickboxer and I want to fight you.' So I like the fact that he’s an unknown,” Strickland said.

If the atmosphere with Poatan is friendly, the same cannot be said for Paulo borrachinha. Still in the interview, Sean says that the miner does not represent a real danger and would be 'easy money' for him in a possible confrontation.

"(Paulo borrachinha) Costa is, for me, an easy salary. All my last fights are against big men, steady fighters. But going into these fights, you're like: 'I'm better than you'”, concluded the American.
