The long-awaited rematch between heavyweights Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua has been confirmed. According to information from the newspaper “Mirror”, the Ukrainian and the British will face each other again at the end of June, in Saudi Arabia, in a duel worth the World Boxing Association (WBA) super belt, in addition to the International Boxing Federation titles. Boxing (IBF), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Organization (IBO).

The rematch has been expected since Usyk dethroned Joshua in September last year. However, the Ukrainian recently chose to return and defend his country from the Russian invasion, which began at the end of February, and put a question mark on whether the duel would take place.
In the first meeting between the two, in September last year, Oleksandr Usyk frustrated the thousands present at the Tottenham stadium, in London, by convincingly dethroning Anthony Joshua, winning the duel with a unanimous decision from the judges (117-112, 116- 112 and 115-113).
Oleksandr Usyk is undefeated in professional boxing, with 19 victories, 13 of which were by knockout. Before becoming absolute heavyweight champion, the 32-year-old Ukrainian was also a multi-time cruiserweight champion.
On the other hand, Anthony Joshua has a record of 24 wins, 22 of which were by knockout, and two defeats. The Brit won his first world title in 2016, with the International Boxing Federation, and from then on accumulated his other belts. The duel against Usyk marks the second rematch of Joshua's career. In the first, he was successful in avenging the surprising defeat suffered against the underdog Andy Ruiz Jr, in 2019.
