Much has been said about the future of Mauritius Shogun after his defeat to Chael Sonnen, in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 26, last Saturday (17). After the bad result, the athlete himself spoke out, through an official statement released by his press office, and made a point of ruling out the possibility of retiring and reinforced his love for the sport.

“I have an 11-year career in MMA/Vale-Tudo and I am accomplished as an athlete, I have won everything I ever wanted. I made all my dreams come true, and if I still struggle, it's because I want to relive them. I still want many victories and to become world champion again. I'm the one who decides when I'm going to stop, no one else. Thank God I am financially stable, and today I fight because I love. I'm a very competitive guy who hates being defeated. I know I did everything I should have done in preparation, but Sonnen was better in the fight, thanks to him.”, says an excerpt from the statement.
